NUWAY is a non-profit organization serving individuals recovering from co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders since 1966. Located in the Twin Cities, we offer an affordable extended care treatment continuum that includes residential and outpatient with recovery residence support. Our clients often struggle with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, lack supportive recovery environments and need extended care to establish their recovery in the community. GENERAL PURPOSE: This position provides general maintenance for all programs and properties. Responsibilities include general maintenance of buildings, light electrical & plumbing, property grounds, and program supplies. Responsibilities also include the day-to-day operations of all motorized equipment. SCOPE: Provides services to all physical building locations in the Minneapolis, MN area. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: Day to day maintenance of NUWAY’s facilities including building upkeep, and program equipment maintenance. This will include light electrical and plumbing repair, painting and finishing work. Ordering and managing all program supplies. Delivery of program supplies. Manage and maintain vehicles. Responsible for safety of buildings including adherence to state and federal safety codes. Maintains work areas including supply room, garages, and storage rooms. SECONDARY DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Age 21, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. Must be able to demonstrate expertise in: weatherization; building repairs; painting and skills in tool use, tool maintenance, and job safety. EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 5 years related experience working in trades and general maintenance. Strong working knowledge of general maintenance and building code compliance practices including but not limited to: Heating, plumbing, electrical, painting, grounds care. EDUCATION: High School Diploma/GED. ADDITIONAL LICENSES: Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver’s License. OTHER: Willingness to work evenings/weekends and on call hours when required. Be free of harmful involvement with mind-altering chemicals, and if chemically dependency, documentation of one (1) year of freedom from chemical use. Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
