Children’s Harbor is a 501(c)(3) child welfare organization, founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers under the leadership of William Mahoney of Mahoney & Associates. In 1999 the organization partnered with the City of Pembroke Pines by entering into a generous 30-year lease for their 8-acre campus Located in the western area of the City.
That same year we began providing prevention services to the children and families of Broward County through the Family Builders and Homemakers program, now referred to as the Family Strengthening program.
Our first residential home opened on our Pembroke Pines campus in 2004. This home serves teens in foster care who are pregnant or parenting and their babies. We grew to include two homes to care for siblings in 2006 and two additional sibling homes in 2008.
Our Mission: To provide safe shelter and support to at-risk children and youth, keeping brothers and sisters together and guiding youth toward independence.
