Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company, is headquartered in McKinney, TX. a suburb of Dallas. Dynacraft is a diversified global manufacturer of PACCAR medium- and heavy-duty truck parts sold under Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. For fifty years Dynacraft has provided the company’s truck divisions and PACCAR Parts division with high quality components, subassemblies, and specialized services. Dynacraft has production facilities in Algona, WA, Louisville, KY, and McKinney, TX.

 

Requisition Summary

The Manufacturing Unit Manager reports to the Assistant Plant Manager and is responsible for day-to-day supervision of assembly, welder, distribution operations and shop floor personnel for a growing plant supporting Paccar truck manufacturing.   The Unit Manager will ensure that the plant will meet production goals and standards for all operations. This includes Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Process and Procedural standards. Participate in an opportunity in building the foundation for the Division’s future growth.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Manages the operations of one or more production areas to ensure that quality, production and deadline goals are met efficiently and cost effectively. 
  • Plans and establishes work schedules, staffing requirements and work sequences to optimize productivity.
  • Trouble-shoots operational issues and works closely with team leads to resolve problems causing interruption of the operation. 
  • Supervise all aspects of employment for shop floor associates and communicate and apply policies and procedures as needed to support employees.
  • Support safety initiatives and participate in facility safety programs including job injury process and prevention. 
  • Recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating efficiency and working conditions.
  • Collaborate with support teams including quality, safety, procurement, customer service, engineering, maintenance and other teams to ensure quality, safe and timely production. 
  • Coach, mentor, develop and evaluate performance of team leaders and shop employees. Play an active role in promoting positive employee relations and engagement.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to make decisions and use independent judgment and/or action required.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Understanding of Six Sigma Minitab software is a plus.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred
  • Applicant should have basic understanding of Lean practices.
  • Applicant must be able to multi-task, prioritize, successfully handle pressure, and work/make decisions independently when required.
  • Successful candidate is safety-conscious, self-motivated, a team player, and is able to think proactively.
     

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Business and three years of manufacturing experience or at least five years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a supervisor role required.
