Job Description

Position Summary:          

This position is about helping people pursue training and careers in IT.  The Technical Education Advisor will be conducting outreach to unemployed professionals, Veterans, and other populations in employment transition and will be responsible for recruiting them for IT training and certification programs. This includes developing and maintaining relationships with prospective students; maintaining a superior level of customer service; and contributing to the goals of the entire IT Career Lab team.

 

Job Content:                      

  • Generate leads, cold call and actively engage in heavy prospecting on a daily basis
  • Responsible for scheduling upwards of 20 initial appointments per week with potential students
  • Consistently identify new sources of business, and be able to generate own leads from approved sources 
  • Serve as primary point of contact and maintain relationships with local workforce agencies within the greater Chicagoland area
  • Deliver weekly presentations informing potential clients of National Able Network and IT Career Lab services
  • Utilizes various internet sites, social media, personal networks and knowledge-base to effectively manage resources and generate leads
  • Responsible for tracking, updating and maintaining all opportunities in approved systems
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual enrollment performance goals
  • Ethically screen and promote training solutions to prospective students by establishing contact, developing relationships and recommending solutions that best fit their goals and skill sets
  • Motivate students to gain their commitment and assist them with navigating various programs
  • Manage initial student registration and scheduling into classes
  • Serve as secondary level of support for student concerns or questions
  • Responsible for understanding and discussing different funding options that are available for potential career training students
  • Responsible for helping with the expansion and diversification of non-government training revenue
  • Local travel to employers, workforce agencies and other Able sites

 

Client / Colleague Interface – Internal/External:

  • Networks and collaborates with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise; frequent inter-organizational and outside collaboration with individuals to provide communication support re: workforce development/services and assistance to programs in areas such as: client/employer connections, unemployed individuals, youth, retail, veterans, recent college graduates, IT and other workforce development related programs/services.

 

Knowledge or Experience:

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices
  • Obtain and analyze information about the IT arena, including hiring trends, training/certification, and program feedback
  • Identify product improvements or new products by remaining current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors
  • Develop outreach/marketing strategies, techniques and tactics based on customer feedback and market environment

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 2-5 years of successful consumer-focused sales experience (both in person and via phone)
  • Technical IT recruiting/sales experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA and other related technical certifications and technologies is required
  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum 6 years of equivalent combination of education and experience required
