Derek West Stafford, 30
Mr. Derek Stafford is an experienced security and emergency medical professional. For 11 years he has been honing his skills and gaining experience in the physical security industry. Derek is a graduate of SecureSet Academy’s HUNT cybersecurity program. Derek is also a former Marine of the Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team (FAST Co.) and Marine infantry (2/5).
Mr. Stafford knew his career path in the sixth grade but had to wait until 2005; as a junior in high school, Derek joined the delayed entry program for the US Marines and took a vow to protect others at a MEPS station in Denver, CO. He quickly gained rank and acquired a bank of skills and leadership experience. The focus on teamwork in the Marines was the most profound lesson he gained. It was during this enlistment that Derek developed his passion for the safety and security of others. In 2016 Derek began to take more notice of the transition from kinetic attacks/conflict and the need for similar defenses in the cyber realm. He soon found the most efficient means to gain the much-needed skills and education to build his foundational understanding of computing and cyber defense / offense operations. Mr. Stafford is eager to jump into the fast-paced world of cybersecurity analysis. As a life-long learner, Derek is motivated to maintain his knowledge and understands the need to be perpetually improving skills and learning about new threats in this hyperconnected world.
Mr. Stafford completed his cybersecurity education in Denver, CO at SecureSet Academy in 2017. He earned his CompTIA Security+ Cert in early 2018. His AEMT certification at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, CO respectively. Mr. Stafford took transitional training in EP/ VDI Protective Evasive Driving/ PSD at Executive Security Intl., Ltd. In Grand Junction, CO.
