Personal Summary

My name is Paula Potter, I am excited to branch into a new career that offers me that ability to help others, improve quality/ quantity and work in an enriching environment that offers me the opportunity for growth.

I have a BA in Sociology and three certificates in child care related fields. I also have 8 years management experience and years working with the special needs population.

I achieved the position of director of youth development for the YMCA of South Hampton roads and have worked diligently to increase numbers, improve licensing standards and employee retention. I am now looking for the opportunity for growth and change of environment. At the YMCA I oversaw approximately 60 employees, ran 11 sites and trained employees, consulted with parents about concerns, constructed behavior management plans for children with emotional and intellectual disabilities, HR duties (hiring, mentoring, paperwork), events, volunteers, community involvement , licensing with department of DSS and customer service.

I am very proud of the work I have done for the YMCA. I have increased numbers, improved licensing inspections, built a team of valuable employees and the parents love me. They know, my concern is always for the safety of nurturing environment for their children. MY compassion are children, special needs and the geriatric population.

I also have worked at the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Chesapeake Public School system, Kirk cone rehab center and volunteer for cancer events and assistant living facilities.

I have an older brother with Down Syndrome and two sons, one with Autism (that is now grown) and another with Cystic Fibrosis (who has passed away in the last year) so, understanding the patients and understanding and excellent customer service needed to deal with those families facing tremendous anxiety and stress.

So, my training, not only comes from work experience but personal as well. I am first aid/ cpr certified, MAT, MAT D, CPS and attended leadership development training through the YMCA.

In closing, I would love an opportunity for a work environment that is challenging, rewarding and exciting. Where I can help others and in return feel the benefit from paying it forward.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
